Has anyone here heard of CINTRA mounting? My local photo printer is singing its praises, but a local frame shop hates it.

My concern is about archivability. How long can i expect a CINTRA mounted photo to last? Can i expect it to retain colour for more than a few years?

Does anyone have any experience with this?

Is this even the right section to post this?

What is it? Sintra foam board is a PVC plastic product that comes in a wide variety of colors. I have not used it personally but I see it on our craft store. However, PVC is not really good for keeping its color especially in sunlight so I wonder also about its durability.

'sintra', with an "s"

well that will help the google research along nicely.

I get larger prints mounted on Styrene at www.whcc.com and it makes an excellent mounting material. It is 2 mm thick and cheaper than foam core and does not dent. I have not used Sintra but I would expect that it, as a mounting substrate, should work equally well. Dennis

Have you had any mounted for a period of time? Both styrene and poly vinyl chloride discolor with UV. Styrene turns a yellow and PVC sort of brown. I have been tempted to try it as it is very easy to work with but have been reluctant.

after doing some further research, it seems that i cannot be selling Sintra mounted work as archival fine art. This is unfourtunate. What kind of mounting technique can i use that leaves me with a nice presentable finish - i do NOT want to have a frame - and also has the longevity i need?

I have read about aluminum, does anyone here have experience with that?
