Does anyone play this 3D thing? Any reviews? What is it?

I like it. Unfortunately my laptop is kinda old and its graphic card doesn't fully support the game. When I logon I only see the environment and other people. My character is invisible to me... so it's pretty hard dressing him.

Waiting for stock market to go back up, sell some shares, and buy new computer.

There are many reasons to play the game. You have a character and can do things you usually don't do in public. You can start a business and sell virtual items (clothing and apparel). You can extend you real life business (lawyers and programmers wanted). And you can have an online community. I think it's cool. Sometimes just to explore.

You can even own property. There's no housing slump in Second Life.

I think it's just a way of losing money in a very imaginative way. It's one of those things like the Sims that rewards huge amount of effort on your part.

But in second life, you have to pay for the neat stuff. Yes, you can make money, but I bet you never get what you put into it.

A lot of people make money on Second Life. Not me... I can't even dress my character. But just read the news. Many people are extending their business into the virtual world.

Edit: Plus... if you don't want to buy anything that's fine. Just logon and explore. It's free.

Here (http://abcnews.go.com/WN/story?id=3521725&page=1) you go. I just saw this on ABC News this morning. Companies are starting have have virtual offices where employees gather for work and meetings. They no longer care where you are physically.

There are a million possibilities. Watch the video on the right.

edit: In case the link above doesn't work.

Bah, I don't have enough time in my first life for a second life.....I really don't like games like that anyway...I prefer to blow stuff up! :)

I would stay away from Second Life, some of it is kind of interesting to explore, or if you can find a good niche to fill you can make a bit of money, one person has actually became a millionaire from this game, but don't count on result like that :).

But overall it's a very disturbing place that is mostly filled with the most bizarre fetishes imaginable. For most people thats pretty much what the game is all about, living out their crazy fantasy, everything from furries, age play, extreme bdsm, and everything else you could possibly imagine and more....

Stay away, far away...

I always get a kick out of seeing another company try to setup a storefront or whatever because their presedent/marketing head/etc wants to be sure they get in "the next big thing". You could almost consider it the cesspool of the internet.
