Hi everyone,

A few shots of my mate's band Inch of Reason @ The Sandringham Hotel in Newtown, Sydney... the venue has a tiny stage and pretty poor lighting, but I did what I could...

I opted to PP them to high-contrast B&W to make them a bit more 'atmospheric'... any C&C on how I could improve low-light technique would be appreciated!

hey dan, looks like the lighting was tough. here are some comments/suggestions.

was the red channel really high in #1? his face looks a bit grey-ish. i like #2 the best but would either dodge or crop the brighter guy in the right. i would have waited to take #3 until the bass guitar neck was out of the frame. 4's not bad at all.

hey narlus, thanks for the critique...

in answer to your question, the lighting was pretty hard to work with - here's the original unedited version of #1 below... feel free to have a stab at PP if you like...

Did you use channel mixer to convert these to bw? If you didnt, I would go to adjustments> channel mixer> click monochrome> and use the red channel primarily in your adjustment. does look like tough lighting...

i did PP in aperture... and used the monochrome mixer with red filter and other fine tuning such as exposure, contrast, and brightness.

i've noticed that red lighting in particular is very hard for AF to lock in, is there any way of making this easier...?
