My 2 month old 10D has already some dirt in the sensor. Checking the first pictures I made, the sensor was dirt already when I purchased it.
Now, I want to clean it up, but I need to buy the right materials.
In some pages, they recommend to use pec pads and eclypse, but the manufacturer says that pec pads are not adequate for sensor, they recommend the sensor swabs wich are much more expensive.
Waht would recommend, according to your experineces?

I just cleaned mine about a week ago with pec-pads and Eclipse. Make sure you have an eye dropper handy. My bottle of Eclipse did not have a dropper. :x

Buy a Speckgrabber Pro made by Kinetronics. You can purchase one from Adorama or B&H Photo, or try your local camera shop. It works great and is reusable. It is also great for removing dust from lenses and focusing screens.

That's not abnormal, the sensor of most DSLR cameras is not completely clean when it's brand new.

That's nonsense because the manufacturer just wants to earn more money. I've cleaned my sensor three or four times with the Copper Hill method (http://www.pbase.com/copperhill/ccd_cleaning) and it works perfectly. I've ordered the SensorSwipe from that website for a few $ and bought a bottle of Eclipse and PecPads - enough to clean the sensor hundreds of times and much cheaper than those pre-made sensor swabs. Those pre-made swabs are a rip-off, they're just cotton buds with a small piece of PecPad on the tip.

Go to copper hill and order the sensor swipe, PecPads and Eclipse. Like yours, my 10D came new last week with a dirty sensor. I swiped it 3 times and its much better...I can still see a little bit of stuff in one corner in PS with autocolor... but its not noticable in real photos. I'll probably clean again next week sometime. I've cleaned my 300D about 10 times with this method as well. No problems. Very easy to do. Just take your time. Use gloves the first time until you learn how to manipulate the pecpads onto the sensorswipe (where you can touch and where you can't)....Its really very easy though.

Just ordered my senorswipe :D

Now if the local camera store would get some eclipse and pecpads soon, I'll be in business?
BTW, can you use these tools/method to clean the mirror too?

PEC PAds and Eclispe Fluid worked fine for me. You can make your own 'brush' with all the recommendations out on the net.

Does anyone know where to buy Eclypse, pec pads, etc.. in Europe ?
I don't wnat to buy them in USA because our governement does charge taxes and duties in everything you buy out of Europe.

Where to buy Eclipse and PecPads in Europe: on the Copper Hill website there is a page with purchasing information which has a link to some online stores in Europe (UK, Germany, France) that sell those things.

Look at the bottom of the page: http://www.pbase.com/image/23431905

I bought it from the German store (Micro Tools) but later I saw it in a small local photo store here too.

Thank you all for your infos. I found a shop in Madrid which sales the Eclipse and the Pec-Pads I will buy them tomorrow. Now should I buy the sensorswipe or should I make it by my own as Haifidelity suggest ?

ordered my sensorswipe too from copperhill, went camping on the beach for 2 days and came back with a sunburnt(on my body), and dust(on my sensor), cleaned lenses, they seem to be fine, hopefully after cleaning, my 10D would be as clean as ... er maybe not new, seems too many dirty new sensors out there, but u know, as clean as it can be :)

paste a shortcut to the image.
select the entire shortcut, then press the IMG button at the top.
That will place image tags on each side of the shortcut

Out of curiosity, I asked my local camera repair facility for the cost of cleaning my 10D sensor. He replied" $100-150" but we clean the whole area around the mirror too. I thought to myself, that should include cleaning my house and detailing my car too. Now I see why people clean their own sensors.

Not only your house, he should come and do mine as well! ;)
