That's the greatest concept since sliced bread and it even has a handle.

It's right in the joke!
Photographer and writer Rockwell Kenneth, an attendee at Nikon Corporation’s D3 media event, was distressed to learn that all D3 lenses will only allow for manual focusing. “Getting rid of autofocus seems like a serious step backward. I can understand the less-is-more mentality, but this? Looks like I’m going to have to stock up on more D40s and 18-200 VRs. It’s all you really need, anyway.

How in the world do you mount the flash? I mean, do they actually expect us to shoot off-camera all the time. I hope this takes the microdrives, too.

D3 does not have a hotshoe.
Might want to go read that article again and look at the pictures.
(Little different for me to say it that way! I'm usually saying to read and not just look at the pictures:lol:)
I'm just wondering what kind of shooting settings are available? I shot in M but a lot will want AV, TV and P nevermind Auto. ;)
As well, what is the weight so I can get the right ballhead and tripod!
ISO options?

It doesn't? http://www.dpreview.com/news/0708/07082312nikond3.asp
ISO options run from 100 to 25,600. Yes, that's an additional two stops. Posts on DPReview and other sites indicate ISO6400 performance that is 'like I've never seen' and 'amazing'. I'll withhold my opinion (and CC number) until after I see images for myself!). Regardless, I'm glad to see Nikon back in the fray. Canon should be releasing their response.....around thanksgiving? :)

Canon pulled their pants down when they went from the 20D to the 30D. They've only recently began to pull them back up.

Well, they lost their pants now. Canon cannot possibly compete against the D3!

How can you even say that? The D3 was just announced There's no sample images, no reviews, anything other than just whats on paper. Wait until there's actual proof that this thing is a beast before you assume.
