I'm probably very biased when it comes to Interpol photos. They're all good and Interpol is my favorite band at the moment.

I'm particularly liking Paul in 4, I would probably get some more contrasts out of it, though, and Carlos D in 2 and 6 are great. Classic Daniel in 5.

Now, I gotta know: how was the show?

Tipsy, these are very very good. You know I normally don't like tilted images but I do like it here. I can't pick a favorite. POssibly 4. All very good.

The Show was really good. The lighting was a pain though. I had some trouble white balancing them afterwards. Thanks for the comments. Yea i agree about 4, im not to sure on it and could probably to with contrast upping.

Can i ask a favour. I did these on my new laptop and i want to know what the brightness setting is like, do they look OK exposed? Like, not too underexposed.

The exposures look real great considering what lighting situation you were in. Especially #7, you got it bright enough without blowing out the highlights. The only thing I'm seeing is that Daniel in 5 looks a bit dark and that white bar seems to distract my eye. Looks like it'd be easy to Photoshop out or something.

good set, agreed w/ the comment that #7 has very good exposure control. seems like the EXIF was stripped out, so i can't be privy to yr settings.

6 would be ace but René would discount points for just nicking off the bass head. ;)

who were you shooting for? will these be published via print, or electronic (web)?

I like them all, but think 4 or 7 is my pick. I think they fit the band very well, and I like your angles. That's cool that you were able to use your 24-70/2.8 for these.

Thanks for your comments. I still havn't worked out where in my workflow im stripping the exif. Possibly on uploading to Flickr. You see i found that when uploading and resizing to flickr, it automatically sharpens the image and it saves me a heck of a lot of time, so now for web sharpening i just upload to there. I guess that could be stripping the exif.

I was generally shooting at 1600 with f 3.5 and around 1/100 with 1.5 - 2 stops of minus ec.

Thanks :) Dwight im sure would disagree with you about the angles though, he's not a fan of those tilted shots. Im glad to see some people are. And i always use my 24-70 2.8, rarely any other lenses.

Nice series. What settings do you usually use your 24-70 on? Just wondering as i'm going to give my Tamron a go first this year before possibly buying the Sigma 30 1.4. In the past i've generally shot at iso1600, wideopen in AV priority. Also did you change the brightness settings on your laptop- they look good but all the photos coming out of mine are really underexposed on other monitors.

Hey Adam,

I generally speaking start with my 20D set on 800 iso with around a 3.5 apeture on AV mode. Sometimes i have to really push the iso though, to 1600 or 3200. And occasionaly have to shoot full open. If the lighting is less changeable i use full manual. I try to adjust the apeture to keep the shutter speed between 1/40 and 1/125 for stopping motion. Usually i'll use 1 to 2 stops either way of exposure compensation depending on the lighting.

In my workflow i upload the raw files and whitebalance in Capture One Pro, then i select my favourites for content/composition and do a little extra editing in photoshop cs, ususaly consisting of brightness/constrast changed and playing around with the saturation and hue.

Yea i often wish i could get wider shots. Thats my 24-70 full wide right back against the barrier. I dont think i could get it much wider.I guess it's time for me to buy a fish-eye... anyone got a pelang or zenitar for sale?(im too poor to afford a canon or sigma)

if the lighting isn't *too* bad the kit lens could do in a pinch...f/3.5 is just two-thirds of a stop slower than f/2.8, so if you are typically at ISO 800, voila!
