Need some expert advice again so here i am.

there are two types of CPL filter in the Hoya range. One is a multicoated at 100 US $ + for 77mm (here in uk they cost two eyes and half a leg), the other one is not coated and is dead cheap. I know, that always buying quality stuff is the right way to go. Although i am not a CPL freak and i use them vey occasianaly.

my question is, does anyone been able to judge of the difference between those two types of filters? (i know there are not many between the HMC and not HMC for the UV filters)

thanks

Dan

I have a Hoya and a Tiffen CPL both 77mm both were more like $50.00... and I have been happy with them.

Polarizers by there nature cut the glare.. so I'm not so sure how much they in particular will benifit from the multicoating...

I'm sure for occasional CPL use the "normal" hoya will do the job well. I've been happy with mine.

I've used the Canon ones on Canon L and Sigma EX on the Sigma EX lens and I'm having no problems. I have no clue how they stack against Tiffen/Hoya/etc. I would think they are all somewhat similar so long as they aren't the super cheapies.

I bought a 67mm B+W CPL filter used and in excellent shape for $50. These are just under $200 locally. Keep your eyes on ebay and you may get a great deal...Dean
