Hey Guys,
I currently have a Canon Powershot S5 and would like to get a Tele and a Wide Angle Lens. The tele lens for shots at Football matches to get a bit closer to the action on the other side of the field!
Has anyone bought additional lenses for their S5? Or does anyone have any recommendations for me as I have never purchased anything like this before?
Cheers :)

Tinio, I suggest you might get some responses by re-posting your query on the "Small compacts" forum - this one is really for G-Series owners.

Canon makes 1.5x tele-lens for about $150 USD. I have a S3 and use a Sony VCL-DH0758 1.7x Tele-lens -- you can buy online at sony website or their stores. I prefer the Sony since, it gives better image and reach. These were taken with the Sony and S3.

Which adapter do you use to use the Sony Lens?

Silvex, I show the Sony VCL-DH0758 is a wide angle lens. What is the number on your telephoto adaptor?
Canon makes the TC-DC58N which is a 1.75x teleconvertor for the powershot/g series. It can be purchased in several sizes from my understanding. The S5 shows adaptors avaliable on the Canon site but no part numbers. It says compatibility is the same back to S2

I already have the Canon LAH-DC20 (Adapter Tube and Hood)
Would I be better off going for a Canon TC-DC58B or the Raynox DCR-2020PRO?

The lensmate 58mm. Get more than one if you plan to have differente lenses. Since it is easier to swap lenses.

Yes I am. The lensmate is made of aluminun and MUCH better quality than's Canon's.

Tonie,
i have just purchased the sony VCL-DH1758 1.7x tele lens and it works very good it does get you closer with out using the digital zoom. But I have found to be able to set the s5 to standard not 1.6 or 2.0 zoom. Now you will get the barrel effect until you zoom in about 40 % but doing this allows you to use all 12 x zoom and the 4 x digital zoom. I do find it is best doing this with the camera in a tripod or at best leaning against something. If i get a chance i will post my test pictures on my public pacasa site and you can see them.

I just bought the Raynox DCR-2020 PRO (2.2X) Telephoto Lens
You will need the Canaon LA-DC58E adaptor.
I love it!
