all are done well. really like three and 4. I dont really have any critiques on these, but some more close ups in the series would be nice.

In #4 you have her hand right over his face. #5 I think is cropped too tightly and needs more space below her so that her skirt is not cut off ... and her shoulder obscures part of his face. Faces are the most important thing in pictures with people. In #1 I do wonder why she seems to happy and he looks like someone has just goosed him!?

Dwight, you're right on #4, "hand over face", with a theater full of 500 people I try to wait until either loud clapping or loud music so I don't ruin the mood with a loud "click" (time to get a quieter camera 5D??, 40D??) Sometimes I'm lucky - sometimes I miss.

On #5, I do have a full body 'head to toe' shot, but I thought I'd try something different in the cropping.

On #1, she's happy, well, I guess 'cause she's 18 and pretty. He's the owner and instructor of the ballet school, and at 51 years-young I'd say he's suckin' wind right about now. :D I hope I can dance with the 18 year-olds when I'm 51.

I think it's one of these boy/girl things, you know. I try so hard to smile on stage and the best I manage is something between looking worried as heck and an effette snarl.

Girls smile on stage and (some of them) can blow you off your seat when you're in the back row of the audience, across twelve rows of permed hair and an orchestra pit.

I often wonder where they learn the skill. Maybe the makeup helps, but I think it's one of those things that girls get taught by their mothers, and that there is a huge anti-male conspiracy to keep us in the dark...

I just luv # 3. You captured a wonderful moment and the ballerina's lines a exquisite! I enjoyed all of these and the hand in front of the face doesn't bother me because in ballet the moves are so studied and nuanced that the hand was supposed to be in front of the face. In a pas a deux the ballerina is paramount, the male is secondary. Your shot # 4shows it like it is.

Awesome stuff Chuck. I have never seen a stage floor so clean and glossy. It sure gives the pictures an extra "wow" factor.

On #4 it's a shame the hand is covering the face.
Don't like the 'vignetting' in #5.
