Spot heal work great for small spots like this. Just adjust the size of the brush to fit your needs

I would use clone stamp; set the blend mode to lighten, set the brush size to just big enough to cover the dust spot, select a spot the same color (ALT-click), and that should lighten the dust spot to the slected color.

DPP from Canon also has a "Stamp" tool similar to cloning in PS for such things.

Would you mind expanding your "tutorial" a little more on the basics of cloning?

Healing tool works great on small spots like the ones on this image but for larger spots cloning does better for larger areas.
