raw file import for D1

I'm using an EOS 1D, and I really would like to find someone who has made or can make a plugin for After effects to import and manipulate the raw files directly, much as you can with cineon files. . . I can't stand the time it takes to convert from raw to tiff using canon's software. Plus, After FX doesn't support 16bit Tiffs (made using canon's twain driver), so I have to use 8bit tiffs, and then I lose more information.

Also, has anyone played with the idea of bypassing the automatic display or images captured using the remote capture software? the raw files download to my harddrive within a second or two, but then it takes over 16 seconds more before I can shoot another image, all because it's "creating display information". And in that time it could at least have been converting it from a raw file to a tiff file, but no.

Overall, I think it's a great camera. It's just that the software is rather pathetic, considering how much this thing costs.

Anyway, sorry for the length of this post. Hopefully someone can point me in the right direction. I may, if it turns out that nothing has been created to help me in my particular dillema, be willing to pay a programmer to develop this for me.
