Hello,

I just got my 300D Rebel. Hell of a camera. I had a Canon A40 before.

The 300D use the USB 1.1 interface Full Speed at 12 Mps. (USB 2.0 is called Hi-Speed by the way).

The Rebel upload in my conputer a 3.1 MB image in 15 sec?? Its about 1.6 Mps. Way under the 12 Mps. ???

The same flash card in my old Canon A40 upload the same 3.1 MB image in 5 sec, 5 Mps, almost 3x faster then the Rebel!

Some reviewers noticed the slow transfers of the Rebel.
I presume I'm not the only one!
Is there a fix for this "problem"? Or I have to live with it and get a flash card reader

Yup, the fix is to get a flash reader.

I noticed the same thing when going from a G3 to the Rebel.
That made me get a USB2 flash reader which is so affordable, and FAST that I dont know why I didnt do it sooner.

BTW, transfering pictures directly from the Rebel to the PC is know to be a HUGE drain on the battery, so I would definately recommend a flash card reader.

It's been shown that transfering a few pictures from the Rebel to the PC can drop your battery strength by up to 50%.

A card reader is a win/win/win/win situation :)

I can't agree more. On the same day that I bought my D60, I went out two hours later and bought a card reader for the princely sum of $7.

I use a PCMCIA card reader in my laptop.

Great speed, no cables and another advantage ... you always know where your replacement CF card is...

Best regards,
