I am confused. When I am in Av mode and shooting in low light with the 550EX attached, the camera does not seem to see that the flash is there. For example: Low light situation, D60 set to aperture priority and f16, the meter says I need a 15 second exposure, even though I have the 550EX mounted and turned on to ETTL and the lightning bolt shows up in the viewfinder. I take the shot, the flash fires and the shutter stays open the full 15 seconds. It's like the camera doesn't know the flash is there, but yet it fires and registers in the viewfinder. ??? It will do the same in Tv mode. What am I doing wrong, or do I have a camera problem???

Help?

This is controlled by Custom Function #6.

The custom function controls the shutter speed setting in Av mode when using flash.
CF6=0, Shutter speed in Av mode is Auto (default)
CF6=1, Shutter speed is set to 1/200 (with flash).

Sounds like your CF6 is still set at 0.

It's setting the shutter speed to properly expose the background.

Here's some good reading..
