mixed feelings for this one...

Too much blank space...there is nothing interesting on the top of the image...but I dont think that a crop will make it any better...IMHO...

I like the idea of the shot, but don't like the sky. I might consider cropping out all of the sky...

Agree with the sky, too plain. Maybe add some clouds?

I'd crop it into a portrait ratio with the top of the frame at the horizon and the subject on the right third line of the frame.

Don't do a thing. I think the blank space works.

the horizon is a little crooked - lower on the left side.

I like the concept Bikerider but like Avin I have mixed feelings:- not sure about all the empty space. This is a drastic crop but what about something along these lines?

thanks very much :).

The use of negative space is important and the amount of it depends upon the subject, for me the balance here is just right. Thank you all for commenting and if you have time check this link out on the use of negative space.

I love Negative Space and try to use it whenever possible, however for me the horizon kills the effect of NS the sky is producing. So I don't see the sky and the water as a big negative area. Perhaps if that horizon line wasn't so contrasty, maybe add some digital fog to soften the line it would flow for me. Still though, it looks like a great image on the bottom and unprinted paper up above.. :)

Maybe a medium thickness black line (or if printed, a black mat) would help if you decided to keep it as is?

Love the negative space, I think it really adds to the composition of the photo.
