I have been doing an intensive 6 week full-time Small Business Management Course (usually 12 months at other facilities 2 days per week) heavily focused on Marketing, the assessment was to do a complete Business Plan and have a panel interview with 2 trainers and 3 local business people, did that today and passed with flying colours, 2 of the 3 business owners want me to do some work for them and have other people they know who may need to use me, they all agreed the Plan was one of the best they had seen in almost 5 years of running the course, wooohooo.
If i could give one piece of advise to anyone wanting to start working full-time in photography do some sort of course not related to photography but to running a business and do a business plan, it will organise you, you will be able to narrow your target market and focus on specific areas, it is going to be so helpful for me and has already saved me thousands on possible bad marketing decisions i was going to make before i did the course, if anyone wants a blank copy of the business plan and what you need to do email me and i would be happy to send it to you.
