No real answer from the unwashed would really be suitable...

It's your photography, and your budget. For now, I would say do NOT purchase another lens - just shoot with the bare A80 (there is lots to learn about it.)

While shooting subjects, try to fathom which lens you should buy... Do you pine for closer macro shots? Do you regret the wide angle just isn't wide enough, or do you often wishing for more telephoto power. Every body has their own ideals on what they want most out of photography.

Once you figure out which lens would give you the most pleasure, that is the one you should get. Just cause 10 folks whom love taking flower shots mentioned MACRO lens, does not mean you would rather take a picture of a flower rather than the Grand Canyon, or ...

I agree with stopbath, get used to the camera, try all the settings and features, and most of all, just have fun with it.

The A80 doesn't really have lens choices. Like most of the other P&S cameras, it will accept a wide angle, closeup and telephoto converter (essentially a lens placed in front of the camera lens). There can be uses for all of these, but they will generally reduce sharpness and clarity in the process, so it becomes a tradeoff as to what is more important in a given situation.

I would agree with the above comments.

At this point I have done, and am doing what these guys are saying.
Learn how to use the P&S to its limits, exploit it in manual mode etc etc.
Buying quality tele & wide lenses + converter is considerably pricey. IMO, the bare camera is capable of alot if you use it properly and learn about composition, exposure etc etc.

Try honing your skills and learning new ones, once you feel that you are limiting your abilities as a photographer by your camera, then buy a DSLR with the money you save from not buying the lenses for the P&S.

When I started, II took some really ordinary pictures, then I learned a little and now get responses like (wow, thats a nice picture) and I still have a lot to learn.

I look at it like riding a bike. You start with a tricycle(P&S), go up to a bike with training wheels(Entry Level DSLR with a basic lense or two), then take the training wheels off (get a variety of lenses), get a nice mountain bike(upgrade to a entry level pro DSLR).

Cheers.
