Any further news on this lens please? Read early posts but wonder if passage of the last few weeks has altered anyone's opinion - I am really keen to get one but at 9 hundred quid over here they are quite expensive.

Thanks

What exactly do you want to know.... I have it and I like it. It's sharp at all focal lengths.

I have asked the "To DO or not to DO" question.. and decided to DO!

In fact I virtually HAD to DO as in my grand scheme.. this lens alone was the reason I kept my 10D and sold my 1D... keeping the 10D as backup/portable option to the MkII.

My intention was that a 10D minus grip with a small lens would be a handy option.... it will be my "small kit"

Thus the DO was the ONLY option for a 300mm lens that would deliver quality and that super compact size! :)

It's currently in the mail.. expect to have it by Thursday.

Thanks for the replies chaps

Danger of reading too many posts on too many sites is that you tend to get the negatives (not digital) coming through too strongly perhaps from people whose axes need sharpening (along with their photo techniques?). I really want this lens for its reach and compactness hence my coming back to this site for honest opinion.

70-200 plus 1.4 is my alternative to the DO next purchase but lacks the portability.

Jesper says sharp - that'll do me
