I'm currently using a Pentax 50mm f1.4 on my canon xti with a chipped k-mount adapter which enables the focus notifier. It produces great shots, and even great macros when i use some close-up filters. However, it is a BIG hassle sometimes focusing manually, especially in low-light situations which the lens is really made for. Also, the focus notifier shuts off at about f8 (well not that it matters much after that).

Should i sell it and buy a standard canon 50mm f1.8/1.4?

Fo' shizzle!

I have the 50mm 1.4 and I love it! Amazing DOF/Bokeh and it's so fast. It's like a Quantum Singularity the way it sucks in light - plus you get AF and MF Focus Confirmation.

Just buy it, you know you want to...

With my close-up +7, my in focus range is around .5 cm o.O

You aren't setting the aperture ring to f/8 and then expecting the camera to indicate correct focus, are you?

How much did you buy it for? They aren't that pricey are they?

If you get a Canon 50 get the 1.4....the 1.8 sucks...badly...
