Upgrade

Is anyone aware of a factory (or other) D30 firmware upgrade that will improve low-light autofocus and/or illuminate the AF points ?

there was a firmware upgrade that some people felt improved the AF, however at least as many people felt that it did nothing. The official line from Canon was that all it fixed was a problem when using the camera with the RemoteCapture software. Have a search on the dpreview forums for a posting about it - you're looking at some 5-6 months ago - I honestly can't remember if it was on here or not.

As to the lit-up focus points, stop and think - if the necessary focussing screen and lamps are not built into the camera (which they are not), how could a firmware upgrade possibly add them? Such an upgrade would be a hardware upgrade, not firmware ;-)
