I'm looking into getting one, I'm having a hard time choosing a good size or color. I've read that it's hard to handle squinting with a pure shiny gold or silver because it actually reflects TOO much light...so what is http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/42096-REG/Photoflex_DL1542ZZ_42_Reflector_Soft.html like? it's a "soft gold" anyone have experience with that?

If anyone would like to go over some etiquette or things to remember when using a reflector, I'd love to hear it!

Thanks in advance!

Hi Ross,

I love using reflectors and I have the exact reflector you're looking at except instead of the round one I have the oval (41" x 74").

If a reflector returns too much light then simply back it away or angle it differently. Reflectors are very flexible and controllable. The white side gives very soft light with low specularity and the soft gold is really nice espcially when working outside where there is already specularity and you want to add that 'glow'. I like the soft gold because it doesn't return the same yellow or orange light that you normally get from gold reflectors. I find it to be a good balance between a silver and gold reflector.
