Yep. Check, among other places, the Maryland Meet-up thread. You just missed a mini-get-together with MDJAK at the WW II Memorial Wednesday (JimAskew, SuzyView, MDJAK and me; Lord Malone, as usual, was nowhere to be found).

Welcome to NOVA. I live in Springfield, VA and work in Alexandria, VA...across from the King Street Metro. Let's link up at lunch one day and we can shoot photos of Old Towne Alexandria from the GW Masonic Temple steps :)

We have had four local "meets" since JAN. DC for the Chinese New Year parade, Dulles AP Annex of the Air & Space Museum, Meadowlark Botanical gardens (near Tysons Corner), and last week the WWII Memorial as Jon mentioned.

I have a "kitchen pass" from the ever patient wife to get a 5D early next year when my bonus kicks in :D

EDIT: Here is a shot with the Sigma 30MM f/1.4 made earlier this year...I was on the top step :-)

im going to pass on the 40D for now --- well, at least until early next year when the prices stabilize. yup, definitely! old town is a great place just to hang and take pics!

Sorry for the delayed response... I was on the way to Seattle last night. Spending time with my brother before he deploys. I'm all in for the meet! I'll be back to the area on Sunday-ish(2 Sep), and I'll be on leave the rest of that week. I'm in Alexandria, about 6 blocks from the Huntinton Metro. Thanks for the invite Jim! I'm looking forward to meeting you both!

I am :-) Let's wait until the end of the month...will be a little cooler. Also, weekend or weekday. I work in Alexandria at the King Street Metro so any time works for me. I suggest we start at the Masonic Temple for a panoramic view from the Temple steps and then go to end of King Street by the river...lots of wonderful old buildings on that end plus the marina...lots of fine restaurants as well :)

There's a meet forming up.

OCT 7th. Meet up at RFD in DC by China Town for a brew and a bite to eat, then head out to the mean streets (at least the ones with lots of people and cops) of DC for a night shoot, walk around and all that after dark.

It's a Sunday, but if you're government, you should be off on Columbus day. And we're not going to be doing it that late.
