I am going to start doing a lot of outside work and instead of spending big bucks on a portable power (like Vagabond II) I was thinking of just using a power inverter plugged into my SUV's power ports.
I would be just using one light, probably the AB800.
I'm sure someone has tried this? Is is feasible? Any drawbacks?
Thanks

Probably the best thing to do is to get a sine wave inverter and use one of those portable battery jump start units. You will need a sine wave inverter though, don't want to cause a fire with any regular inverter in your car.

You also should not only make sure that the inverter has enough capacity to do the job properly, but you should hard-wire the inverter to the battery with large diameter cable. No cigarette-lighter plug connection will work for this task.

Thanks for the replies. I think I am just going to purchase a portable unit designed for the job. No sense risking the equipment.
