Okay, so I'm an on location photographer, but people have asked me many times about if I have a studio or if I can do indoor work, which I'd love to, but I don't have any type of lighting equipment. I'm looking into getting some, but what do you recommend? I'm really new to all this photography stuff, and I haven't taken any courses or classes on it, either. So any tips, opinions, advice or suggestions would be great! Thanks so much!!

Look into Alien Bees lighting equipment. It's a good place to start. Good luck.

I am new to lighting and flash as well and most people recommended to me the Alienbee setups.

Another, not well known, series of studio strobes which give good value for their price are the Sunpak Platinum and Platinum Plus Flash Units..

B&H PRICES:
MP150 - $142.95 - 150 WS
MP300 - $188.50 - 300 WS
MPP500 - $302.50 - 500 WS
MPP800 - $348.95 - 800 WS
MPP1000 - $369.95 - 1,000 WS

I have an older 400WS Sunpak that performs great with a medium Chiera Softbox. Additionally, the portable hotshoe and handle mount Sunpak flash units have been doing excellent service for years.

There are snoots, softboxes and other light modifiers available for these units...
