How could I make this photo better?

Okay,so first of all, I didn't take this photo. It was given to me by a friend, who just moved into their first home (they bought it), and she wondered if I could fix it to make it look better... I've messed around, but I can't seem to make it any better! Any suggestions? Or is it pretty much no good?

id just crop tighter and adjust the contrast a bit (via curves).

A different crop would be a good start. Lots of nothing around the perimeter.

I would say go to their house and take a shot at it w/ your camera, then play with it. Or if you cant do that have them take another one, but maybe in the daytime, possibly further away from their house to get that in the pic also, since it will prob be sentimental in the future. Just an idea. The pic doesnt really seem worth the time to mess around with. Just start over. But thats just my 2cents

I assume that you want your friends included in a picture of the new house. Simply include the whole house in the frame and pose them where you get the best impact.

I found it quite hard to improve this image. I am not sure why. Its something to do with the lighting. I think it must have been at night time almost. Its strange. I tried my best :). Just some level adjustments. And crop + frame.
