In the middle of redesigning my website and I'm looking for a good Gallerie to host my images.
I need something that's completely customizable, something that will help organize my work and setup thumbnails for me.
I'm not sure what is normally used to do something like this. Maybe some type of Java app?
I have the space to host the image, just looking for some type of program or app to help me out.
What does everyone recommend?
Thank you,
Nicholas

Thank you. But I'm not sure if my web host will PHP.
I've done this in the past, but that was all manually done with HTML... wow that was fun.

I may have to look into that. I use photoshop all the time, but never have used that option.

without php you wont have any choice, are there any cgi galleries out there? static is about the only route, and ugly java script transitions...
http://www.airtightinteractive.com/simpleviewer/ is nice, still under dev and very simple, great for small galleries

use web photo album creator to thumbnail your photos, without PHP and ASP etc, only HTML.
This software can add a navigate bar (<>+-print and so on)to each photo, and add javascript (40 types above) to photo page. you can add descriptions, change sheet style and page style. free to try it .
This is the sample link http://www.photopackager.com/example/index.asp
And This is the web site http://www.photopackager.com
Tell me if you feel well. Hee

Addtion, this site provides free space to store your photo album, so I think it's good enough.

do it yourself, dont rely on other companies to host your stuff
jalbum is quite good and its free. you can customise it all with css
im using simpleviewer as a flash presentation tool. i get some criticism from people saying they dont like flash though ...

well, they better wake up and get with the picture ;)
in class we have to go through the whole usability process of web development and design, there is nothing wrong with flash when properly used, hybrid sites are awesome, fully flash sites can be overdone though
http://www.imagevuex.com is so close to promising, if only the frame would resize to the photo...

Have visited that site and it was most impressive. I wan't too keen on the viewable image size though! Flash is of course great to work with but it can be slow in the loading process. I have a Broadband connection and the pictures took some time to load using flash. I wonder how the performance might be without a broadband conneciton?

re flash loading speed: simpleviewer has an intelligent preloading option. you get to see the first images while the other thumbs are still being preloaded. so there's no annoying moment of silence with a "skip intro" button. granted i havent tested this on a modem dialup pc
a major concern is that flash is a "cpu hog" as one visitor to my site suggested. you can blame people for being stubborn and ignorant to new web trends, but you can not blame people for having a pentium 2 with low ram
im not sure what the system requirements are for decent flash viewing, but even my P4 with 500mb ram makes flash go all gittery if i have the macromedia suite and photoshop open. thats a 2Ghz PC!!
search engines are also blind to flash content. the title of your album in simpleviewer aswell as the descriptions of your foto's will never show up in google. if you want search engine traffic on your site you're in trouble with flash
flash gets completely slated by professional webdesigners because of those reasons ... but i still use it 8)
