As I understand it, the MkII alows you to shoot RAW files with embedded JPEG files.

Can you select the quality of the JPEGs while shooting both?

At what point in processing do you lose the option of having both kinds of files?

Can you (for example) view and or print JPEG images and then go back and work selected images in RAW format?

Can you store both the JPEG & RAW files seperatly?

Would it be better if the camera saved RAW to the compact flash card and JPEG to the SD card? ( I think yes.)

I have seen the debate on this forum, (and elsewhere) whether to shoot RAW or JPEG and wonder if the MKII makes that a moot point.

With the 1D series of cameras the JPEG is not imbedded in the RAW file, but is written by iteself, alongside its RAW counterpart.

However, there IS an imbedded JPEG in every RAW file. it's something like 1500 by 800 or soemthing along those lines. You can yank the imbedded JPEG using Breezebrowser.

You can select any size JPEG to go with the RAW file, or no JPEG. Even if you select no JPEG it will be imbedded in the RAW file.

You cannot write RAW to one card and JPEG to another. And yes, you can store the JPEG (not the imbedded) completely separate from the RAW file. There are no .thm files with the MKII.

Hope that answers your questions.
