I have a Canon Powershot SD450.. I bought it 5/10/2006.
I dont know how it happened but my LCD is shattered... Anyone know if Canon covers that and how long is the warranty for them?

I know my ex broke hers a few months after I got it for her and they replaced it.. same problem. But who knows?

Nope, unless you've got a very convincing proof that the shatter was due to it being misassembled or of flawed manufacture. And even if it were, the warranty is only 1 year, so you're out of warranty for anything now.

I receieved an email today telling me to send in the camera. The original inquirey by me to them was asking if it was covered under the warranty and they replied to send it in.. what does that mean? LOL
Do they just want money to repair it?

Probably. They will likely send you a quote.

I broke my SD450 lcd as well and bought a new one for $54 and installed it myself. It was actually very easy, about 20 minutes. It still works flawlessly to this day.

I work at canon as tech support. Since you're not in warranty anymore there going to have you send it in and then they are going to get back to you with an estimate of the costs to repair your camera and at that time you can choose whether you want to pay and have it repaired or just have them send it back to you. You should also ask about the canon loyalty program (they might have already told you about it). But ya I'm not going to go into detail since I'm not working right now lol. Whoever you get in touch with can give you all the info.
