I love the first one, composition is excellent. You've got perfect foreground interest too.
It's slightly oversaturated for my taste but that aside the colours are great.
It looks like you've gone off the beaten path to get this.

Nice shots! Good light captured in both. Well done!

Why is #1 so damned dark in the upper left corner? Is it due to the angle of polarization being close(r) to 90 degrees perpendicular to sun angle? Or is it something else?
I'm thinking that the JPEG compression destroyed that first one too. I bet the full image in either RAW or TIFF is nice.
Great work otherwise!

Since I was using a wide angle lens on a full frame with a polarizer (17-35 lens) you usually get an uneven polarization in the frame. But in this instance I think it worked out with this framing.
I cranked up the polarizer on the 1st one to really bring out the the color of the rocks.
Thanks for your comments.

If these are recent; I have to say I'm surprised to see snow on the mtns in the background of #2!
I like the shots.. I'll be there in 2 weeks!

Love that first one for all the reasons stated above but feel it could be a bit lighter particularly in the upper left as someone already said.
