Hi everybody,

I'm new here, and I'm in need for urgent help to fix my problem, I bought a ZR70MC camera since one year ago, it was great and I used it for my work, I bought it from ebay USA, it was brand new and came with its warranty (US Warranty), now a nd since few days I had a very strange problem, when I start the camera there is no image at all in viewfinder or LCD, and after many shutdowns and starts it works, then I had this every time I started my camera and sometimes it never give any picture whatever I did, I'm locating in Egypt and for sure it's impossible to send the camera back to USA for warranty recovering, so if anyone just give me an idea about what's happening I might be able to repair the problem myself, and please I don't want any opinions like send it back to USA or abroad because if I did so I will pay another very high custom fees (that's the law here), anyway I thank anyone want to help me getting my camera works.

Hi Rivo,

it sounds like a lose/broken connection. If you open your camera you will probably just make things worse and the manufacturer will not fix it then. You have three options, open the camera yourself and make it worse, see if anyone in your country can fix it, send it back and get it fixed by someone who knows what they are doing.

Most people would suggest the last option but you dont want to hear that so pick one of the others

best regards

.....it sounds like a lose/broken connection.

Yea,...I could agree with that based on your description of what's going on.

I used to live in Egypt, so I have some empathy with what you're up against in finding some help ....

If you no longer have a warranty to consider, then whatever you do is not going to impact any future work by the manufacturer, anyway. Whatever work is done won't be warranty work. My suggestion: Take the camera to Cairo and hunt down some camera repair shop ( ... you might find one in Khan el Kalili masquerading as an Egyptian antiquities dealer!) .... Or you might find one in Zamalak somewhere. But Cairo is your best bet, IMO - it's a more international city and more likely to have someone who can help you if you can't get it fixed by yourself......

I know I had a Canon A1 repaired in Cyprus a long time ago while I was there (it was out of warranty and the shutter went out on me!). But the guy was really good - I haven't had a lick of a problem with that camera since this guy worked on it ..... and I got much better service than I would've received here in the States.

Thanks Bear, and Cecilc, Last two days I was working in my camera myself, actually I considered Cecilc words about shutter, and I decided to go through, you won't believe it, I did it and I fix it, it's fully work now just as new, it was a risk I know but it would take a very long time to have it repaired here, and I need it in my work, also I'm about to go in vacation and I need it there, anyway it was a little hard experience but passed with good results, thanks again and wish you all the best.
