Pink in flight - Roseate Spoonbills on the wing

Here's a few from this past weekend. Good day for flight shots, as the Spoonbills were quite active. All were in very early morning light. All were at ISO 200, f/5.6, and shutter speeds around 1/1000 with the Canon 1DsMII and 100-400L zoom. I haven't posted much lately, but have been very actively shooting, and have quite a gallery now. Will try to post more now that the migratory season is starting again. Enjoy!

This one is my favorite of the morning. Head on at fairly close range. Tough to shoot and keep in focus. I feel like I nailed it.

The second one gets my vote although they are all nice. I think the darker background makes it stand out more, also a bit closer. Beautiful!

Yep - Sunday morning. Was there when the gate opened.

Thanks to everyone for the kind comments. These are really cool birds, and I love it when I get a good opportunity to shoot them like this. Ding Darling Refuge is probably one of the top places to shoot Spoonbills. You have to time it right, though, and catch them during low tide.
