My local pro photo dealer told me last week - if he had 50 MkIIs, he could sell them in a week.

I have been saving my pennies, and hope to get one at the end of the summer.

Does anyone have a feel for when supply will catch up to demand?

I have heard rumors of production delays, etc. etc.

I will pull the trigger at $4k (I'll start my Kraft Mac & cheese diet then)

Can I get a red one?

Where's the choice for 18 months?

I would say nearly a couple of years, just like the MK-I.

I wouldn't expect to see a price drop much before it's replacement is announced.

You guys are TUFF. I will get one as soon as I feel all the little bugs and quirks are worked out. when the 1D came out there was a front focus issue and a few other minor problems. they should all be worked out in a short period of time. then someone else will come out with a bigger and better camera. The Kodac 14 megapixil cmera is offered with Canon lens monts but who cares. I'll take a !d MKII over it any time.

It'll be awhile. At least 2 years, I think. One thing I know for sure though is that the fortunate ones are all those in North America.

European prices, in general, are higher than anywhere else. And here in Japan it isn't much better (at least for the D cameras).

Here, the price of the 10D hasn't dropped at all. In fact, it's slightly more expensive (by about 20-30 US$). The 1Ds ranges from almost 8K to almost 9K US$. Right now, the 1D MKII goes for around 5K US$.

SouthEast Asia is usually cheaper for consumer electronics but I not really so for higher end stuff.

i don't think they will for a loooooong time even though i hope they do.

and for most people here who would like to own one, we are not TUFF, we just skint ...

10D price is pretty stable here and very rarely discounted here. The mail order guys are the only people dicounting and again very little on the 10D. The real high end stuff will come down a little at a time but not as fast as we we like. You slso have to be carful as somtimes products are alwasys what is advertized and accesories are not included with the discount. The prices are controlled by canon and they are in the driver's seat.

CanĂ³n are probably in a position where they could put the price of the !d mk11 up and people will still be snapping up every camera produced, so why do you think they are going to drop the price. It really wouldn't surprise me if they increased the price, I bet sales wouldn't stop at all.

The price will drop when there is an even newer, faster, better camera, the Mark III, but then everyone will be drooling about the Mark III and the Mark II won't look so hot anymore...

Here, the 1Ds and 10D are still the same price as they were when they were introduced.

When I purchased my first 1D if cost me $4,500 dollars the second xost me $2800 and I knew that a new camera was coming out but I needed a back up because of the work that I do. I'm not sorry that I did't wait and in some ways th 1D is still a great camera. If I needed a third I would still buy it. I does the job for what I need to do. I will get a MKII when I need a third camera and not before. I'm not going to buy just to have it
