Here are three different shots form one object.
In the first one I’m below the object.
In the second we’re in the same level.
In the third I’m over it.
Which one do you prefer? How do you feel them? Any idea to improve?

Very very nice. I like the first and third ones the best.

1) This is a solid 10. Is the positioning of the bird relative to the sun an actual capture, or is that post processing? Just wondering, but it really doesn't matter as it is a wonderful shot. At first I was unsure about the empty left half of the frame, but on second look, I realize that it is not empty. The flare is a very nice counterpoint to the bird.

2) This one does not quite do it for me. Maybe a 4.

3) Again, very good, but not quite as good as the first. Lets say an 8.5. I really like the blurred background, but something is just not quite right. Can't quite put my fingers on it. I don't think that a vertical crop would do it. Hmmm... Something about the empty space on the right but I find myself at a loss as to how to advise.

If these are heavily post processed, please post the source images. I would be very interested to see what you started with in creating these.

Good work

Thanks for comments and encouragement.
Regarding the 1st shot, the original work is over a flat blue background(no sun, no flare) and then come into life by some rendering in PS (Lens flares and lighting effects).
The 2nd and 3rd ones are original and just have been processed for some color and contrast enhancement.
Do you believe that some background washing out may improve the 3rd?
Do you suggest a better cropping for the 2nd?

I love blurs, so I like 'em all!
1 & 3 especially, but I agree that 3 might be cropped (or darkened) on the right a bit.
Good work!

I would make sure that the rules of the contest allow manipulated images. I (personally) would feel uncomfortable submitting #1, even though it is a stunner. The reason is this, the flare, which we know to be added does more than enhance the image. It becomes (to my eyes) half of the subject. I just would not feel that I had "taken" the picture.

Number 2 does not much - I think that I just don't find that the bird is something I want to look at. I know that it is just the luck of the catch, but I thing that if the wings were a little further in their stroke, it might evoke more of a feeling of power - the fight against that most tenacious of adversaries: gravity. Just me, though.

That leaves #3. I like the shot, and I really like the omniscient "looking down" POV, not something that we get to see very often - well, of a bird at least. But there are areas of the background that don't work for me. I am not offering any thought for what TO do, but just pointing out areas that don't work for me.

I hope that that helps some.

I agree with Rad, but it does depend on the rules of the contest. Some are for "Pic Takers", & some are for "Pic Makers".
I understand his comment, "I just would not feel that I had "taken" the picture.", & have often wondered just where we draw the line. Is using Levels OK, because it's similar to conventional darkroom manipulation? Is it the process that's important, or the finished result? I don't use the Brownie Hawkeye anymore & happily take advantadge of pic taking tech, & don't feel guilty in making use of pic making tech. Still, there is a certain extra satisfaction in only adding just a touch of Levels to a pic that came out just as I 'saw' it in my mind before I hit the shutter release.

Here is a processed take of picture 2.
Do you feel it better? Does the lighting effect improve the shot? How about the new cropping?
Your comments are welcome

Two was my favorite from the start. It really shows the power of the wing stroke. Not sure about the new photo-effect the brightness is almost distracting leaving me staring at the white  ...
