There are 3 reasons to buy the G9 over the G7
-RAW
-3" screen
-New Grip

But there are also 3 reasons why some will prefer the G7 over the G9
-Less noise at ISO 400 and ISO 800
-Smaller file size (10mp is plenty for most point and shoot people)
-Lower price


In my case I already own a G7 and see no reason to upgrade. I only use my G7 for family type snap shots anyways so RAW would really be of no use to me on this camera. I already have an aftermarket grip. A 1/2" bigger screen will make no difference to me at all. If the G9 had a F/1.8 26mm wide end I would buy the G9 yesterday.

My G9 is doing GREAT!!!

RAW files have VERY VERY little Noise and the G9 comes with in the Software, a noise Reduction that Truely works Awesome when there is Noise.

G7 is still a Great camera and I still have one but need to sell it. :D

If the G9 had a F/1.8 26mm wide end I would buy the G9 yesterday.

I would add: High ISO noise levels comparable to the Fuji F31D; and shorter shutter lag.

I own the G7 AND the G9 right now....

Not by choice, just can't seem to sell the G7.

The G9 is better then the G7, end of story.




G7 is STILL an awesome camera so when you think about it, the G9 is one of the Best point and shoot cameras on the market today.
