The Flying V actually has a really nice tone to it as I recall (depending on exact model/pickup configuration of course). Maybe a little less bark than your average Les Paul...great low end. No effects needed...just plug it in. It's not really the best guitar for shredders unless you're going for looks...which most are.

i think marathon was saying that is TOO MUCH guitar for hootie. at least that's what i think. and i beg to differ that the flying V is not for shredders.
