My family owns lake property about an hour outside of Minneapolis where we go for the weekend throughout the summer. Here are a few shots from my last trip up there. All shots taken with a 1DMK2 with the 17-40L.

Justin, love the third one!

the first just lacks a real subject so it's kinda boring to me (the glare doesn't help either) and while I do like the composition on the second (great framing), you could have really used a grad filter here to expose the lake a little better, reduce the sun glare, and add some sat to the sky. just my two cents. not bad but no pop, ya know?

thanks scott. i agree completely with your comments on the second photo. I have been wanting to invest in a grad ND filter setup but funds are running low and I'm trying to get a 24-70 for my Europe trip coming up in 3 weeks. :) i was going to do an HDR shot on this one, but i dropped my TC-80N3 in the water and didn't feel like getting back in the water afterwards.

first one i put up more for sentimental reasons - the path you see in the right corner has been a project I have worked on for a number of years.

I hear ya on the path Justin. I build trails for mountain biking and dirt jumping so a nice path/trail is sentimental here as well. If you want a cheap fix to the ND problem (and I'm sure I'll get blasted for this), either get a cheap Hoya off ebay (screw on type) or buy a Cokin and just hold it in front of a tripod mounted camera. Either works well enough to get the effect you need with much less pp and very little loot outta pocket.
