Promise you! :-)
Last week I upgraded my hardware, so now have 400D plus EF 50mm, f/1.4 USM and EF 28-200mm, f/3.5-5.6 USM
So will be busy now, to prove to myself now, that I have not waisted money :-)

I have a 10D but just got a G6 because I have been very impressed with the overall features and especially all the posts on the macro forum. It really is a great little camera even to this day.

Yes, you are right! excellent camera, very powerful, surprisingly good for a compact!
Love it! So that's why I keep it with me

I'm thinking of getting a G series, someone has mentioned the sensors are around 10 times smaller than an SLR. So are they not that good in poor light then?

G6 is a great compact camera when you don't want to lug around the dSLR and the hefty lenses.

In poor light no, but there are some other pros there in that camera.

I think you might be referring to a comment I made in another thread. I certainly did not mean that the G series are not good in poor light. In my opinion they actually do a very good job even at reduced light levels. I did mean that DSLRs with their much larger sensors are, by comparison, exceptionally good in poor light.
For example, both my G3 and G6 default to a minimum ASA of 50. My D70 defaults to a minimum ISO of 200, four times as fast. Everything else being equal, that is the difference between a less than acceptably sharp hand held 1/15 sec and a very usable hand held 1/60 second. Also, the smaller sensors begin to get noisy very quickly at faster ISOs. With the D70 noise is certainly visible at ISO 1600 but not enough to significantly degrade the quality of the photo. ISO 1600 is a five stop advantage over ISO 50. I tried using these faster speeds with both my G3 and G6 and the pictures are much too noisy, IMO.
In other words, if ones intent is to frequently shoot in low light conditions, as was the specific subject in the other thread, a larger sensor is important. Otherwise, the G series will give outstanding results.
