Here are the two best shots I took the other night while shooting in Brooklyn Bridge Park. They both were shot using the XT/350D and kit lens (RAW), with some adjustments in Lightroom. C&C welcome as always.

I like these shots, they're great but i noticed the copyright mark across the middle straight away, which ruins it for me.

great shots. I agree that the copyright mark ruins it a little. I understand your concerns about copyright. However you are talking about a low resolution file of an extremely commonly photographed monument. I have seen some pretty amazing and unique shots on this board and I have very rarely seen copy right watermarks.
To each his own.
like the photos.

Two good pictures. I do agree with other comments about the watermark on a site like this, my comment has to be "Is it needed"

What, cause you can't steal it? :) :p

To each his own, I say.

Love the last one!

Yea, I guess I am a little paranoid. Thanks for the compliment, though. I'll repost w/o the watermark when I get home from work.

I really like both of these, but #2 is my favorite. It looks so perfect it could be an illustration. Nice exposure and color.

Funny, I didn't even notice the watermark until I saw it mentioned.

I noticed it. Wasnt THAT big a deal. You could still see everything the image had to offer. I just put my digital signature in whichever corner of the image has the least important stuff. As long as its there, people cant take it out legally. So just leave it out of the way if you need it.

Thanks! I been using a dSLR since only February, and I feel I finally found something that I love and I can really sink my teeth into. Greatly appreciated!

Yea these are really nice shots. Everyone should be able to say they have one great shot of this. :-D Good job on your shots. You have learned well in your short usage of the DSLR. Welcome to the party! ;-)

Wonderful photos of one of the best places in NYC. I bike to that park a lot, and just plop on the grass and watch the ships go by. The scenery is majestic, Manhattan skyline, Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges converging towards you, the flow of the East River passing by, Grimaldi's Pizzeria nearby, life is good. Did you use a tripod for these shots? I know that the park rangers there are quite strict on the use of cameras, and they approach nearly anyone who looks pro (meaning anyone who has a dSLR) and ask if they have a permit to shoot.

Welcome to the forum JCH!

I used a tripod and cable release w/ the mirror locked up... About an hour before I took the shots posted, I had my camera and tripod set up just inside the entrance to Fulton Ferry Park, which is right next to Brooklyn Bridge Park (for those not in NY), and right before that park closed (which is usually at sunset), one of the rangers came up to me in a golf cart asking me for what purpose was I taking pictures. I told him that it was just a hobby. Then he asked if the camera was mine and I told him it was. He then said "alright" and continued on his rounds. I do have to admit, sometimes you are left to feel a little awkward just because you shoot w/ a dSLR. It's well worth it, though. I would never have got most of the shots that I did if I had used a point and shoot camera.

I had the same problem one night last winter there. Ranger was raking up some leaves or something, saw me walk in, tripod over my shoulder and bee-lined it towards me. I didn't even have the damn thing set-up before he stood right in front of my lens and started grilling me, demanding to know who I was going to show the pictures to, if I was a professional, etc etc. Apparently, they make you get some sort of permit for commercial photography, and they assume all DSLR users are professionals selling their work. Pinheads...

Nice shots very sharp I wouldn't worry about the watermark. Some people just need to learn to look at a pic and ignore the watermark.

I don't blame you for being concerned better being prepared than being sorry but on this board its pretty safe.

That park is my favorite, I shot a lot when I was there las February sp the vacant buillding to the rightt of where you shot the second shot.

Thanks everyone!!!:)

To answer your question Jordan, these were taken during the hour after sunset... The Brooklyn Bridge pic was the last shot of the night, just before the last little bit of light retreated beyond the horizon.

Can people not imagine a picture without watermark. Yes he has a watermark but doesn't really distract from the picture.

Great shots.
