bride with a cold sore...

I did a wedding with a bride that had a cold sore.
All went good. But then when it was time to leave she said that she wanted me to photoshop all her pictures to hide it...
It says in my contract that I do color correction as needed but I never specified doing any alteration to hide skin imperfection.

I certainly don't mind do it for the photos of the couple but for all the photos!!!!

Figure out a price to do all the images and give her a price...maybe including an estimated editing time.

Personally, I do more than just color correction on all my images...and it should only take a few seconds to remove one blemish. So I would just smile and say 'What cold sore?" :D

Or...since she asked to you 'hide it'...you could photoshop in a mustache on her face for every photo. ;)

I would do it for the close-ups whether she had asked or not but I don't see the point in doing all of them unless the sore is so obvious that it attracts attention in the shot.

With some things, I would agree with that...but seeing as the bride was very well aware of it...it will probably be the first thing she looks for in every image.

I know photographers who heavily photoshop every single image that their clients ever see. I guess it comes down to how much service you really want to offer your clients.

i wouldn't bother for web proofing, but on the pictures she's chosen i would touch up anything that spoils the photo, after all she's going to be showing off her shiney new wedding photos to everyone she can right?

you leave her with a cold sore, she's not going to talk about you favourably to her friends and relatives..

I agree...I had a bride with tan lines..i did only the ones that she ordered..and she paid 1/2 the costs...

I usually fix things like that on the close ups where it is noticable. Plus its usually a very small task. You can just use the spot heal too, just be careful around the lips.

If its not stated in your contract, then quote her for the additional pshop work and give her a few reputable retouch websites, this can be time consuming and expensive work, I wouldnt be doing it for free. However I cover this subject in detail prior (postproduction work, type of finish)to the wedding and factor it into my costs( and i charge retouching at the same rate as photography). :)T

Personally, I'd retouch a few of my favourite proofs, and retouch any prints for free. I think customer service goes a long way.

I fix anything that goes into the album, but any CDs supplied are done as "digital negatives" only - unless i'm in a good mood - and customer service does count for a lot. I'd fix at least a few of the best for the CD. I'd charge them by the hour to fix all the photos.

As i don't do too many weddings I have retouched images in the past but it is time consuming.

One wedding I'd done, the groom forgot his front tooth!!! i had to Pshop every image where he showed his front teeth. Only took a few minutes on each image but with plenty of images time is quickly eaten away.

If you do this as a business, time is mnoney and you should charge (perhaps giving some kind of discount depending on what she is already purchasing from you).

If you do this as a part timer, then it's your shout - the spot removal tool in Ps and lightroom takes seconds to remove this type of blemish.

Try to keep them happy and you'll possibly get more work at a later date.

I had to 'dye' a grandmothers white shoes in several photos to match the purple dress. She didnt have time to dye them herself. I did about 5, including the formals, and the Bride was happy.

My first paid job was a lady with her Dachhound ( wiener dog ).
She had quite a few "moles" on her face ( say 10+).
I PS them off and made her look good, and she got mad because her moles made her who she was..
so a bunch of wasted time.
