Hey guys,
I bought a Canon Powershot s30 yesterday, and I'm having the hardest time trying to grab my files off of the camera using ZoomBrowser Ex. Each time that I try to connect to the camera, an error happens that says, "Unable to connect to camera window". My computer is using windows2000.
Also, when I use the "Twain Window", I can grab my regular image files, but it seems that I CAN'T grab any of the movies I created. Anyone know how to get by this?
If anyone can help me, I'd really apprecaite it.
Thanks

Since you have not gotten any other replies, thought I would give it a shot. Maybe you need to connect directly to the camera, but what I use is a Compact Flash Card Reader and just tranfer the files that way. Seems like I paid around $30 for it many moons ago. Got it at Fry's Electronics. Just a thought and hope this helps.

I've noticed that Zoombrowser does not work well with anything above Me and especially XP! I have had Zoombrowser lose too many pictures to carry on using it even though I like the program. My advice is to forget Zoombrowser and let Windows Picture and Fax viewer do the job as it works very well and has no hassles with Microsoft programs( obviously!)
With the camera plugged in to the USB port, if you go Control Panel, Cameras & Scanners, RIGHT click on the S 30, and tick on the box that allows you to choose which program will open your pictures, and then tell it to use the Windows program and then tekk it to always use this program you will be, I can assure you, much happier in the long run.

Aundog, it sounds like you haven't found Downloader, yet. A lot of people around here think that's the best way to go for downloading. It's free from Breezesys.com.

i'd get a cf card reader for your USB port- not that you need to save batteries since it came w/a recharger, but it's a heck of a lot more convenient to drag and drop that way

Rustle,
Thank you for this reference to Dowloader.
My problems are over :)
It has been a nightmare working with zoombrowser, half the time it doesn't recognise the camera or can't connect or whatever.
Downloader is great.
Cheers

I've never had any problems with Zoombrowser...and I've used it to transfer thousands of images to my Windows XP laptop. It has never crashed or failed to transfer an image (knock on wood).
But I have used the card reader method on several occaisions. If I'm travelling without my laptop, I have used a simple USB CF Reader to transfer images to a computer using Windows Explorer. Then I just upload the images to my website or burn them onto a CD for safe keeping. The major advantage to Zoombrowser is that it can preview RAW images and it displays Canon Exif information correctly. I haven't tried the downloader product, so I don't know if it can handle these functions.
