CICADA SHELL

I was shooting a large cedar tree when I saw this little guy. A Cicada bug exo-skeleton left behind after molting. Chicadas take over TN about every 7 yrs. They make a very loud sound. Many thousands of these together can be astonishingly loud.

I can't believe they take over TN every year. We have a host of them every summer. The only critique I can offer is to maybe heighten the contrast because the shell and the tree are such dull colors by nature; otherwise, it looks good.

I left off a digit. I meant every 17 years we get swamped by them by the "zillions". Apparently some species emerge yearly as well and others every 13 yrs. I believe were due a big hatching in '08. Its quite a spectacle. I was able to go a few more clicks further with the contrast before the eye and thorax area reflections became to hot - it did help. :) Thanks much for the feedback.
