View Full Version : Advise me on developing copyright

I hate having to do this, but I also don't like the thought of other people saving my photos without my knowledge, especially those of my girls. I've done a couple of searches here, but didn't find exactly what I was looking for, though I'm sure it has been discussed.
What should I do? Can anyone tell me the basics of embedding a copyright mark (visable or not) within PSCS? I'd rather have it not visable so that when I get my prints, it doesn't show up. But I definitely want it there for anything on the web. If it is not visable, it might be less likely to be cloned out too.
Again, I'm sure this has been discussed already, but I couldn't find it. So,
thank you.

Here is one place that you can apply invisible watermarking to your images and even track them on the internet. This service is costly
There is also ways to disable right clicking so that images can't be saved but that doesn't stop from page copying with rip programs such as free ones like srip32.
You're right about this being an old topic, but the end result of the conversations have always come to the same conclusion, the best way to deal with image theft is to make the images not worth stealing by keeping the image size down.

thanks. Oh well. Do you think that by keeping them under 800px, they are pretty much useless to take?
Also, I looked at your album and noticed the prop out of water photo. I have a thing (maybe an obsession) for inboard boats and parts. Check out my site...there are a couple photos there currently of 2 different inboard props out of water.

What you're looking for in PS is File>File info. The easiest way to use it is to make an Action to apply the © info to the pic. Besides that, I keep my inet pics down to 5-600 wide, 72ppi, & don't sharpen them optimally. It probably doesn't make a difference, but I feel better about it.

Thanks for noticing. That isn't a very good shot. Lots of improvement could be done on that one.
Saw yours. The prop and reflection is real nice.

I came across a litle program/script called simpleviewer (http://www.airtightinteractive.com/simpleviewer/). Its a little script that creates a gallery, but it does it through embedding the images into a flash movie. Dont forget to get the admin tool as well. If you know how, its also very editable.
That way if they right click on it, it will just show the flash menu. It is still possible to rip the images out of the file, but you need to know what you are doing and have some spare time on your hands.
Not only will it prevent anyone from taking the pictures, but it will deter them as it would be quite a hassle to get them.
Besides that, its a nice way to present your galleries.
