I think something like this may have been discussed in another thread:

However I am still a bit confused. I don't really care as much about per-exhibition comments. I'd like for visitors to be able to put comments on each photo. Is there a way to do this? Thanks!!

in misc settings, there are two boxes way down the page where you CTRL-CLICK on the exhibits where you want comments to be allowed... one is for the exhibit and the other is for the pics in the exhibit, IIRC... i generally just go thru both of them and select everything so that comments are done everywhere if folk want to make one...
