Hello there,

I was recently hired to take pictures in different cities in US. I have some stock pictures taken already, so they want to buy some of them and also I'll be doing assignment work for them. My questions are:
1. how much should I charge per digital picture (those that I already have)
2. how much should I charge per hour on assignment? Or should I charge per hour and per picture they choose?
This company is new in business so they don't have experience in pricing photography job and they told me to come up with the prices myself. The thing is I don't wanna over - or undercharge them ;)

Thanx! :)
P.S.: they pay all travel expences.

I would keep your pricing in line with gettyimages, or another stock company online. I would also strategize a price that is fair to you, keeping in mind travel, expenses, etc., but at the same time keep it fair to them as well. I would say at least $75 per hour if you are good.

So, I emailed them the prices:
1. Stock photography (files I already have of the needed cities) -
$50/image with RF licence.

2. Assignment photography:
$20/hour - pre-production time (phone calls to restaurants, clubs
museums etc to ask permission for shooting the property)
$800/day (8 hours) +$25 per selected image with RF licence.
$20/hour - post-production time (preparing images for web, outputting
to CDs/DVDs, shipping).

It's been 2 days and I haven't heard from them yet. :(
Did I ask too much???

I think you asked too little! I'd probably bill it a bit differently - include all the pre and post production in your per day price

Image pricing sounds fair though
