I havn't been able to find much info for my question. What are my lens options for the D-Rebel, I am especially looking for a zoom, was looking at the 75-300, but have not heard good things, do I have other options, and if so, where can I find them?

Thanks

There is too much info to post here. Just do a search here on the forum, and you can also go to Canon's website. They have a great deal of info on their complete line of lenses. The DRebel is compatible with all EF lenses as well as other manufacturers such as Sigma, Tamron, etc.

there have been alot of post recently on this topic
do a search for any size lens and you'll have alot of post come up

I'm also looking for a zoom lens and the 75-300 is not a bad lens for it's price
i do have a post on this lens that alot of the members replied to and gave lots of info

it also depends on how much you want to spend
if you're going low end then the 75-300 is a great deal
but if you're not really worried about spending too much then go with the 70-200mm f/2.8L or bigger
rocky2 just got a beautiful Sigma 50-500 and it looks like it has some great optics for about 800+

Options.

Yes.. your Camra has more lens options than any other SLR in history!

The Canon EF lens line up is the largest and broadest, and Only the rebel will take that one EFS lens.. so the Rebel is the lens option KING!

Not to mention all the third party lenses made to fit the EOS mount.

So.. what options are you looking for.. can you narrow it down a bit?

You could start here;

You can also look at retailers online to get a feel for what lenses are available and their prices. Two options include:

B&H

Calumet

There are tons of others also, just giving you two to start with.

There is, but it still means the Rebel can take one more lens than any other eos :)

if i was looking for zoom, non-budget...i would go 70-200 f4L or f.28L depending on how much i was moving around and then cashflow...

budget...errr... 70-200f4 L :D

its enough zoom for me, no mega zoom, but its still pimp

if the lens has a red stripe, its P I M P

and the 5mm f1.8 is a MUST

and on top of that, anything canon sells is pimp

pimp pimp pimp...cause canon is bitchin yo

You get what you pay for. This rule generally may not apply to everything, but when it comes to lenses, it is pretty much a maxim of truth. If you have a money tree growing in the backyard, then you should definitely go for the L series of Canon (or the upper echelon equivelents of other brands). The sharpness, color saturation, bokeh, you name it, are amazing. But these lenses are EXPENSIVE.

But if you are looking for a 300mm zoom, and if you can't afford one of the L, then I highly reccomend the Sigma 70-300 APO SMII.

the 70-300 DO looks interesting - it's size is great
a bit pricy
non an L class lens but if size and weight are a consideration for every day use i would look at it...

Yep, just picked one up (as well as an 85mm f1.8, for those available light candid shots I used to do with my Olympus 135 f2).

I plan to do a bunch of street photography with the 70-300 DO IS at the Ann Arbor Art Fairs this week, so we'll see how it works out.

So far, I've been pretty impressed. First IS lens I've owned (although I'm familar with IS via Canon's DV camcorders). I used to carry a 70-210 f4 around I got used last fall (similar in weight/size to the 70-200 f4L, but not nearly as sharp). I traded it in for the 70-300 DO IS (and a bunch of cash 8-). I gave up a stop, but gained a much smaller, shorter. lighter lens, IS -- which gives me back 2-3 stops for handholding, and about 50% further reach, and overall sharper pictures.

If you are in SE Mich, go to Huron Camera in Dexter for instant gratification (and a good over-the-counter price).

I'm happy.

I have a digital rebel and decided to go with the Tamron 28-300 zoom. I it is a 3.5 to 6.3 f value.

I have taken many nice images with this combo.

Go to http://home.comcast.net/~riod/Flag_in_storm_web.jpg to check out some of my images.
