is it common for raw pics to lose data. I just converted raw pics for the first time in zoom browser. i opened them and let them convert. then i did a "save to" as a jpeg to a folder on my pc. when i look at the pics, the raws that were converted do not have the "date picture taken info".
Is there are reason for this. Is there a way to convert and not lose this infor?

Zoombrowser drops the EXIF data upon conversion to jpeg.
I believe Breezebrowser lets you keep the data; not sure about other converters.

I beleive Zoom Browser does kep the Data .
I know Breeze System Software does keep the data of converted photos. I have been using Breeze Browser and it still maintains file information after converting to TIFF. Tony /G1

I may have misworded my response. Zoombrowser certainly keeps the data in the original RAW file - I didn't mean to suggest that it drops the data from the source file.
But if you click "show properties" on a converted file (whether JPEG or TIFF) it says "The camera properties cannot be determined from the file."
According to the breezesys.com site, BreezeBrowser keeps MOST of the data in the converted files, but recommends you also keep the THM file (the thumbnail image attached to the RAW file) which contains ALL of the data.
