Ixus 400 got wet

help ! ! !
my ixus 400 got soaked wet for about 2mins in my bag when the bottle leaked. i popped the battery out and cf card immediately. but the zoom lens seems to have pop up by itself...
right now the viewfinder and lense seems to be foggy from the inside.
im not sure if the interiors of it is still wet...

what should i do? :oops:

I'd let it dry out for about a week, and if that doesn't bring it back to life I'd send it in for repair.

if it got soaked, it's probably not possible to save it!

you could send it in but canon will probably send it back with the notice irreparable :cry:

so if it doesn't work after a week drying you can probably burry him :? :cry:

You got yerself a nice paperweight. Even if it does work, after drying out, it will never be trust worthy. It could die when the weather gets damp, or die at any time, or just suck the batteries dry faster than it should...

Send it in for an estimate if you wish, but after being wet for two minutes, water has had a chance to really get in, and get onto the circuits...

Start checking out new cameras.

Send it to Canon anyways, I think they usually offer discounts on new models if not repairable.

I had a Canon Ixus V that got wet on a night out. Took the batterys and CF card out straight away, and left for a ages to 'dry' out.

The view finder did dry out (although would prob fog up in heat now), but the camera never did work again.

I made a few enquiries about getting fixed, but also phoned our house insurance and told them we had an accident and it got wet.

Now have a brand new Ixus 400 (had to pay a little extra to upgrade).

Both the batterys and CF cards (including those that got wet) all work in the new 400...

The Ixus sits on the desk still - seems a shame to throw it away.
