Does the No Bump policy apply to WTBUY? If so, I have committed an infraction and wish to apologize. I understand it in WTSELL... that would be chaos...
MODS-- If I did in fact break the rule..please feel free delete my WTB post.. it is for HiTech, Lee or SingRay filters.

This sticky http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=152117 is in the Buy section.
Because it's there, you can reasonably expect it to apply to the Buy section, otherwise the administrators wouldn't have put it there. The no bump policy is there to give other people in there a chance. If anyone could bump their own posts, then it would be grossly unfair.
If people want to find things in the market sections, they'll use the search functionality to find them.

Actually, the "No Bump" is in the general Forum rules (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/rules.php). Rule 3.2.

Jon is correct. Thread bumping is prohibited throughout POTN but it is discussed at length in MarketPlace where it is more prevalent.
I make bumps disappear on a daily basis. At my advanced age and failing eyesight I don't see many of the bumps that are in threads that have been inactive for at least a week. The younger Mods tend to catch more of them than I do.
Of course if you take the time to point it out we can hardly ignore it can we? ;-)

As I am turning myself in - I hope you don't ignore it. I have given myself 40 lashes with the proverbial wet noodle and recited "I will not bump again or my name is Noink" 100 times. I hope that is suitable penance. :)

Sorry I couldn't help myself! :)That's a hanging offense around here, you know!

Skip,
I too am turning myself in. I am one of the misfits who reads the stickies. I enjoy reading user manuals. I did read the prohibition on bumping before my first post. However, as a newbie to forums in general, I did not understand what bumping is. Eventually my ignorance started to bother me. I searched this forum and discovered having been guilty :o. This will not happen again ("this" refers to being guilty, not to searching this forum :)).
It might be helpful to others equally innocent in intent, should such persons exist, to explain in the stickies what exactly this prohibited bumping is.

Bumping means replying to your own post in attempt to raise it back to top in (new) post list.

Kiitos (thank you). That's what I figured eventually. One can come close to it, without meaning to, by using a second post to add meat to a quickly composed first post. Or, after a long period of non-replies, to state thanks and to indicate that the OP is no longer subscribing to the thread.
