Hi, I've been around for a while but haven't posted many images. So I thought I'd give it a shot. I'm trying to decide if I want to sell my 70-200 .28L IS so I took it and my 5D downtown to see if I really want to part with it. Here are some of the results. These are straight out of the camera with only a quick batch pass with the sharpen filter. Nothing else. All were shot around the White House or within a block or so of 15th and G. (bad heart so I can't get more than a few blocks from my motorcycle.) It was a very cloudy/overcast day so not harsh shadows to worry about. (only whether or not it would rain before I got back home ...hehehe)
This is my first try at "street photography" or "urban photography" so let me know what you think.

This fellow had a mixer, amp, large speaker and some great flute music. I heard the music from a block away and went looking for it. Beautiful.

Those shots are great. It seems your 70-200 is "sharp like razor blade".

Nice sharp pictures. Why would you sell the "Lens"

Thanks for all the replies folks. As to why I want to sell the lens: A heart attack sidelined me from my bread & butter work (school photographer) last year and now without any retirement benefits, I must exist on SS. Now I need to come up with some money to replace my broken TV and those big DLP and Plasma sets don't come cheap. But then again, I look at the images and think, "MMmmm, maybe I could sell off one of the grandkids...hehehe.
Back to the images though. I liked this lens on my 10D but am amazed by the quality of images from the 5D-70mm-200mm combination. I have found that I can crop an image shot at 200mm to get the same FOV as a 300 or longer lens with very little loss of quality.
Example:
Here is a crop

from this image: (see full size image here (http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1070/1294354734_cc4fad700f_b.jpg))

That has to be the equivelent of a 300mm or 400mm lens shot. Blows my mind.

Nice shots.
We have a similar protester here in London who has been camped 24-7 in Parliament Square since 2001: http://www.parliament-square.org.uk/
I don't necessarily agree or disagree with what he is saying, but I hate the way they have tried to shut him up. As Voltaire said: "I do not agree with what you have to say, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it."

Don't you mean cop?
It's a great lens, I'd keep the glass, sell the motorcycle[especially with a bad heart] and buy a cage. ;)
