So it may not be as exciting to everyone because it is just the Rebel, but it is my first dSLR camera and my first time as an EOS user. Now I can take a few final pictures of my faithful G3 before I pass it on to its new owner.
On the other hand now I can buy all kinds of accessories! I need a flash and a decent telephoto zoom lens. Oh yeah and money with which to buy the accessories. And just to verify there was no talent included in the package for me either.
Also I have the hack downloaded, should I install it? hmmm....
And finally a thanks to everyone in this forum, everyone here is wonderful.

Congrats Vince!
Your going to love it. :)
I'd wait a few weeks or so before trying the "hack" at least. Make sure all is working first ... then see if you find you are missing any features... it may be months before you start to want more tweeks! The Rebel has a lot allready :)

ENJOY IT!!
You will feel a thrill of unexplainable joy when you press that shutter and u see the red light achieve focus before you can even say cheese to the people you are taking pictures of and they are caught unaware and you have this really funny picture of your relatives making these really weird facial expressions and you can look at it and laugh and laugh and laugh all because you purchased the rebel that can focus much faster than the g3 with less noise at higher iso.
Okay....

Well, somebody here already openend a topic on photography as a dangerous addiction....you'll learn why when you discover the thrill and freedom of shooting and experimenting with the rebel. Not to mention the fun in digital processing and all.
I am the lucky owner of a 10D and find myself rapidly entangled in the 'I need this....and that....and that...' of photography. Ah well...it's a nice addiction to have. Fortunately most stuff is expensive so you WILL be going to work on monday. You just won't be THINKING of work on monday

Scottes: You are my new personal hero.
CDS: Too late. I was sitting here thinking that it is a used camera so there are no known issues. I thought that the heck, I might as well get used to the hacked controls. I hope I didn't make a mistake...

Install the hack, even if it's only for your own peace of mind. It's very
simple to do, comparable to tranferring a file from one hard drive to
another. Just make sure you read the instructions which are around here
someplace.
Digital photography has, in six short months, become nothing less than a
passion with me--to such a degree that I've purchased a soon-to-be-
delivered Mark II. I'm giving my DRebel to my wife and we are going to
go shooting together whenever we can. Thus, I can rationalize that even
if I don't make a cent with the camera, the cost will be more than compensated for by the additional time we spend together.
Yesterday, we went shooting with the Rebel down at the Manasquan Inlet, and we had a great time--with just one camera. I'm sure two cameras will more than double the fun.
Hope you have tons of fun with your new toy.

I already joined Controlz, about an hour after the camera was in my hands. I still prefer to call it the Digital Hack, props to whoever posted the 'digital hack' image.
I guess I will have to change my signature to reflect my recent purchase.

Its too late for you now,
Yesterday you were a normal person, now you are a DSLR owner and you are doomed!
Soon you will be needing another fix, at first it will be something small, like a compact flash card but eventually you will be into the hard stuff - L lenses, flashguns, studio flash, bags, tripods, even 1DS......
Then you will be as poor as the rest of us.

I think that I would be happier here and doomed than rich and not here. Luckily I have a girlfriend who is very enthusiastic about my hobby. She was almost as excited as I was when I got it.
Maybe someday I can get her hooked to.

Thanks Persian. You know all of us folk in the southwestern Ontario/GTA should probably get together at somepoint. Unless, of course, there are already meets like that organized that I don't know about. Maybe we could pick a place with lots of photo opportunities and good beer.
I also think this should wait until I learn how to use my new toy or get a few more accessories ;-)
