I want to get outside a bit more with EOS 300D + 3/4 lenses various and am looking at Tamrac Velocity 9 Pro Sling Pack model 5749.

This has a single cross " well-padded sling strap comfortably distributes the weight, but need not be removed to quickly access photo equipment".

i.e., you can swing the pack in front without removing strap.

I don't intend to track across the Poles but would hike a few miles and wonder if anyone has experience of this system.

Any info on reasonable backpacks would be gratefully received but I do like the idea of this model.

my needs are more extreme than some but i love my lowepro nature treker
i do extended hikes over varied terrain in the rockies
i have two external hip belt lens cases so counting the lens on the camera around my nect i am able to switch between a telephoto/zoom/macro without getting into the pack
i also have a water bottle carrier on the waist belt
i wear a photo vest for memory batteries and filters
i think the vest is a must no matter what you get
fyi...

I use the Lowepro Mini Trekker on a lot of short day hikes, and it really has become my primary bag due to its comfort, easy access, and capacity.

I use the Lowepro Micro Trekker 200. Only $60 and has only a little less room than the Mini Trekker. I also have an older version of the Nature Trekker....and it is huge! I really can't see myself using it all that much.

The Micro Trekker holds my camera body with a my 17-40 f/4 attached and four other lenses. I also have a speedlite 420ex in the bag...and filters and such too.

It is about half the price of the Mini Trekker, but if you want room to grow...you might want the mini trekker. The Nature Trekker is too big for everyday use, IMO.

I'm interested in getting one that holds a laptop but the Mini Trekker is also an option.

I just bought a Tamrac Expedition 5 and I really like it so far.
It's very comfortable and has more than enough room for my current gear.

currently have in backpack.
Digital Rebel +battery grip with 70-200 f/4 lens hood attached in travel mode

3 medium size lenses.
1 300mm push pull lens
pentax zx-10 body

===still have room for more
maybe i'll post a pic tomorrow.
